According to the Salesforce Help article on Configuring Stop Associations for Live Daily Summary Configurations in Salesforce Maps3, two steps that an admin must take to configure Live Stop Associations are: create a Marker Layer that includes all records users will visit, and create a Shape Layer for each record that specifies the radius for associating a Stop event3. The Marker Layer will help identify the records that are relevant for Stop Associations, and the Shape Layer will help define the distance around each Stop Event that will be used to determine which records will associate with the Stop Event3.

One way to automate the process of clearing coordinates for records that have address changes is to use a Salesforce automation tool, such as Process Builder or Flow Builder. These tools can help create workflows that trigger actions based on certain criteria or events. For example, the account executive from Alpine Energy can use Process Builder to create a process that runs whenever an account is created or edited,and checks if any of the address fields have changed. If so, the process can execute an action that clears the latitude and longitude values of the account record. This way, the next time the account is plotted on Salesforce Maps, it will geocode with the updated address and plot in the correct location. The shift length is too short. This could be the cause of the error when trying to optimize the route with 124 customers. The shift length is the maximum amount of time that a user can work in a day, and it is set in the visit plan settings. If the shift length is too short, it may not be possible to visit all the customers within the time limit, and the optimization may fail. To avoid this error, the administrator should increase the shift length or reduce the number of customers in the dataset. This is explained in the Specify Visit and Optimization Parameters document.

These are the three steps that the admin must complete to include their custom object Alpine Customers in Maps Advanced routing. According to the article "Configure custom routable object for Maps Advanced"1, a routable object is an object that represents the location users will navigate to within their Salesforce Maps Advanced Visit Plans, such as Accounts. To configure a custom object as a routable object, the admin needs to create a lookup relationship field on the Maps Advanced Route Waypoint object that points to the custom object1. The admin also needs to create a custom report type for the custom object in order to import the customer listfor routing2. Additionally, the admin needs to ensure that all records of the custom object have geocodes (latitude/longitude values) assigned, as this is required for plotting them on the map and routing them3. Making sure that Click2Create is configured for Alpine Customers is not a necessary step, as Click2Create is a feature that allows users to create records directly from the map view, not to include them in routing4. Ensuring that users are assigned to the records or related records they want to route via user lookup field is also not a necessary step, as this is only required for Enterprise Territory Management integration, not for routing5.

According to the Salesforce Help article on Plan My Visits1, this feature allows users to reoptimize their future routes based on their current schedule and visit plan settings. This way, users can ensure that any skipped or rescheduled visits are replanned according to their preferences and priorities1.

The most suitable publishing method in this scenario is Publish to CSV. This method allows the territory manager to export the alignment data to a CSV file, which can then be imported into Salesforce using a data loader tool. This method is recommended for large alignments with over 10,000 records, as it can handle high volumes of data and avoid performance issues. This method also allows the territory manager to review and modify the data before importing it intoSalesforce. To view household demographic data in the US, such as income, age, education, and population, the sales rep can use the Demographic Layers feature in Salesforce Maps. This feature allows the user to overlay demographic data on top of their existing data layers and visualize them with different colors and shapes. The Demographic Layers feature is described in the Get to Know Salesforce Maps unit.

According to the Trailhead module on Get to Know Salesforce Maps Territory Planning4, one way to ensure that Universal Containers will only plan territories for states they do business in is to filter the boundaries by states in the “Create Data Set” stage4. This will allow them to select only the states that are relevant for their business and exclude the rest from their territory planning process4.

The Publish to Salesforce Maps option is not turned on in the Publish options of the Maps configuration. This option allows users to publish their alignments to Salesforce Maps as Shape Layers and Auto Assignment rules. If this option is not enabled, users will not see Salesforce Maps as a publishing option in Territory Planning. This is explained in the Configure Options for Publishing Alignments document.

According to the Salesforce Help article on Understand and Troubleshoot Unit Assignment in Salesforce Maps Territory Planning5, two steps that a consultant can take to troubleshoot the issue of no units assigned to areas are: edit the data set, and see what field was used for Unit Assignment, and create a new alignment, and use the correct matching logic for this field; and edit the data set, and what report and/or queries were used to create it, and double check thatthe reports and/or queries return records when logged in as the OAuth user5. These steps willhelp ensure that the data set has valid unit assignment values and that there are no issues with data access or permissions5.

The admin should add a filter to the Lead Marker Layer used to configure Stop Associations to include only open Leads. This will ensure that stops only be associated to open Leads in the Live Daily Summaries. The filter can be added on the Marker Layer configuration page by selecting the Filters tab and choosing the appropriate criteria for open Leads. Salesforce Maps allows users to check in and check out of tasks, events, and other records from the map interface. This feature helps users track their activities and log their visits. However, some users may forget to check out of a task when they leave an appointment, which can cause inaccurate data and reports. To prevent this, an admin can enable the “Auto Check Out” feature for the corresponding Base Object under Installed Package | Configure | Base Objects. This feature automatically checks out a user from a record when they move away from the location by a certain distance. The admin can specify the distance threshold and the time interval for the auto check out feature. According to the Trailhead module 3, the import from alignment feature allows planners to import existing territory boundaries from a previous alignment into a new data set and alignment. This way, they can avoid redrawing the boundaries every time they create a new data set and alignment. This feature is useful for companies like Alpine Energy that realign their sales territories quarterly and want to preserve their previous alignments.

These are the two options that an admin has when defining the Visit Duration in a Maps Advanced Visit Plan. Visit Duration is the amount of time that a user plans to spend at each stop on their route. The admin can configure the Visit Duration for a routable object in two ways:

• The admin can select a field from the routable object that contains the duration value, such as a custom field or a standard field like Estimated Travel Time. The field must be a number or text field that contains only numbers.
• The admin can enter any length of time in minutes in the Visit Duration field on the Maps Advanced Route Waypoint object. The Visit Duration field is a number field that accepts values from 1 to 1440 (24 hours). The admin cannot use fixed values like 60 minutes or 30 minutes as options for defining the Visit Duration, as these are not configurable options in Maps Advanced. The Visit Duration must be either a field from the routable object or a value entered in the Visit Duration field on the Maps Advanced Route Waypoint object.

According to the Salesforce Help article on Filter by Owner in Maps Marker Layer Builder3, filtering by owner or ownership scope allows Maps users to filter Marker layers based on the record ownership model in their Salesforce org. To create one marker layer for several users to display only the accounts they currently own, an admin can create an Account Marker Layer, select My Accounts under Filter By Owner3. This will show all accounts owned by the logged-in user.

The two permission sets that an admin must assign to a sales rep to enable their location tracking are SF Maps and SF Maps Live Mobile Tracking. These permission sets grant access to the Salesforce Maps app and the Salesforce Maps Live feature, which allow users to activate and deactivate live location tracking through their mobile device. The admin must also assign the corresponding permission set licenses and a Maps Permission Group with the Enable Live Mobile Tracking permission. To avoid redrawing the existing territory boundaries every time they create a new data set and alignment, Alpine Energy can use the Import from Alignment feature in Territory Planning. This feature allows the customer to import an existing territory model and boundary assignments from another alignment that uses the same territory boundaries as the new data set. This way, the customer can save time and effort by reusing their previous territory design and making adjustments as needed. To use this feature, the customer can follow these steps:

• Click the Territory Planning tab to launch the app and display the Browser window.
• Hover over an active data set and click the + symbol to add a new alignment.
• Enter a Name and Description (optional) for the alignment and click Next.
• In the Create Alignment window, select Import Model | Import from Alignment | Next.
• Select an existing alignment from which to import the model and boundary assignments.
• Click Import.

According to the Salesforce Help document 1, this error means that the user specified in the file does not match an existing Salesforce User. The admin needs to make sure that the user name or ID in the file is correct and that the user has access to Territory Planning.

A stop can fail to associate with a nearby account for two main reasons. One is that the account record is not geocoded, which means that it does not have a valid latitude and longitude value. This can prevent the stop from finding the account on the map. The other reason is that the account record is not included in the Marker Layer used to generate stop associations, which means that it is not part of the data set that the stop is looking for. This can happen if theaccount does not meet the criteria or filters of the Marker Layer. These reasons are explained in the Associate Stops with Accounts document.

These are two considerations that a Salesforce admin should keep in mind when setting up the OAuth user in order to establish a secure connection with the Salesforce Maps Routing Engine. An OAuth user is required to perform optimizations for routes in Advanced Routing4. The OAuth user should have the following permissions and roles6:

• The OAuth user should have the Salesforce Maps Advanced Permission Set License assigned.
• The OAuth user should have the Maps Admin and SF Maps Advanced Permission Sets assigned.
• The OAuth User has been assigned to a role that is above the Maps Advanced end-users in the Salesforce Role Hierarchy. The OAuth user does not need to be assigned to an active visit plan, as this is not relevant for setting up an OAuth user. The OAuth user does not need to be assigned to the ‘OAuth user’ profile, as this is not a valid profile in Salesforce.

Developer and Technical Architect are two team members that should be included during a Maps scoping session in which legacy data/mapping system migrations and integrations/interfaces will be discussed. These team members have the technical expertise and skills to assess the feasibility, complexity, and risks of migrating and integrating data from different sources and systems. They can also provide guidance and recommendations on how to design, develop, test, and deploy the data migration and integration solutions. These team members are part of the Salesforce Maps Implementation Methodology document.

The sales manager is unable to publish the alignment because they only have Commenter access to the alignment, the alignment must be submitted for approval before publishing, and the alignment must be approved before it can be published. These are the three possible reasons that prevent the sales manager from publishing the alignment to Salesforce Maps. Commenter access only allows users to view and comment on alignments, but not edit or publish them. Submitting and approving alignments are required steps for publishing alignments if Alignment Approval is enabled in the org. According to the Trailhead module on Get to Know the Marker Layer Builder4, creating a marker layer follows the same process as creating a Salesforce report. Therefore, to test a marker layer and ensure Salesforce Maps is displaying the correct number of results, a user can create a Salesforce Report to match the Marker Layer Builder criteria4. This way, they can compare the results from both sources and identify any discrepancies or errors.

A new account marker layer may display an error for “bad addresses” if the address on the account record is unknown or invalid, or if the base object has not been configured correctly. A bad address means that the record failed to plot on the map, and it can affect the accuracy and completeness of the data visualization. To fix this issue, the user can either drop a pin on the map to manually set the location of the record, or clear the coordinates and set the verified location by dragging the marker.
